ELP DC-06: How do I use the ArcSoft Application software that comes with the document camera?

  • ELP DC-06 Visualiser
  • ArcSoft Application software for ELPDC06
  • Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32-bit)

The software can capture an image or video through the document camera connected to a Windows PC*. It can also create and display a slideshow.

*The ArcSoft software supports only Windows XP (SP2 or later), Windows Vista, and Windows 7 (32-bit only).

In order to use the document camera with a Windows PC, you will need to install the bundled software. When the software is installed, the computer can be used to operate the document camera and capture images.

  1. Make sure you have installed the supplied software. Then connect the ELP DC-06 directly to the computer's USB port using the supplied USB cable.

  2. Click Start > All Programs > ArcSoft Application software for ELPDC06.

  3. The start screen appears. Click capture.

  4. The capture screen appears. Here you can use the document camera to capture still images or videos.

If the unit is not connected, an error message will appear in the capture window. Connect the document camera to the computer's USB port or check that the USB cable is connected properly at both ends.

If it is connected but you receive an error, check that a USB hub is not in use. If it is connected via a USB hub, connect it to the computer directly. Also check that it is connected to a native USB port on the computer, and not a PCI card or through a USB port on a keyboard or side of the monitor (PC). Connect it directly.

Once you have carried out these checks, click the document camera icon.

If you see the following error message, make sure that no other imaging devices (e.g. a digital camera, webcam) are connected to the computer via USB. Also make sure that there a USB scanner/All-In-One is not connected at the same time. Otherwise, this could cause a conflict; disconnect the other imaging device(s) (scanner/digital camera/webcam), restart the computer and connect the ELP DC-06 document camera again.

"The camera is not found. The camera is in use by another program or is not connected. Make sure that the camera is connected and working properly, then try again."

  5. To zoom in on part of an image, install the ELPDC06 Button Manager or use the zoom (+) button on the document camera.

If ELPDC06 Button Manager is not installed, the (+) ( - ) zoom buttons cannot be used when the unit is connected to a computer.

The ArcSoft Application software provides controls to operate the document camera from a PC. However, the zoom feature is not available (greyed out) in the ArcSoft software as it allows you to control image attributes only.

    • To perform auto focus on a document, press the [Focus] button on the document camera.

Auto focus may not be possible, depending on the type of document you want to project or capture. If the image appears out of focus, please see the following Related Article for help:

ELP DC-06: My image is out of focus. What should I do?

    • To capture images or videos, do one of the following:

      • Click to capture a still image.
      • Click to capture a video clip. To stop recording, click this button again. The recording time is displayed in the capture preview window.

You can capture video at a resolution up to 640 x 480 pixels. Make sure a suitable resolution is set, otherwise the record video button will be greyed-out.

    • To change the location in which ArcSoft automatically saves files, do the following:

      1. In the ArcSoft software, select Extras, then Option.

      2. Select the Media Folder tab.

      3. Click the folder icon, select the folder where you’d like your files saved, then click OK.

      4. Click OK.

    • To return to the start screen, click the home button.
