Products of all kinds are now networkable.
At Epson, we continue to strengthen the connectivity of our printers, all-in-ones, and projectors to improve user-friendliness for our customers.
All products that are connected to a network require a protected network environment and appropriate security settings to prevent unauthorized access and other external threats.
This guide describes common security threats, Epson's approach to security, and important security measures.
Follow this guide to create an appropriate network environment and enable security settings to help stop:
At Epson, we take the following approach to product network security so you can use your product safely and with peace of mind.
The factory default settings of our products do not necessarily provide perfect protection. To ensure security, read the following during installation and configure the necessary settings for your usage environment.
We strongly recommend setting up an administrator password on your product.
If you do not set an administrator password or if you leave the administrator password at the factory default setting, your product settings and network settings could be vulnerable to access by unauthorized users, who could alter or steal personal data and confidential information, such as IDs, passwords, and address books.
Install products on a network that is protected by a firewall, wireless router, or other means instead of connecting directly to the Internet. We recommend setting up and utilizing a private IP address when you do this. Internet Firewall (Router)
Our network enabled products include management interfaces, such as a web management screen. At Epson, we conduct vulnerability tests in an effort to deliver products that are free of vulnerabilities. However, products that are directly connected to the Internet face unforeseeable security threats, such as unauthorized usage and information leaks.
The advantage of wireless LAN is that you can easily connect to a network and print from a computer or smartphone as long as you are within range of a signal. On the other hand, if security is not properly set up, you could be vulnerable to malicious third parties who attempt to interception your communications and steal your identity. When using wireless LAN please appropriately enable the wireless LAN’s security.
