When Photo Black is active in the printer and you send a print job after selecting a Matte, Fine Art or Plain paper in the printer driver, the print job may stop and you see the following message:
Unlike previous models, both Photo Black and Matte Black inks can be loaded simultaneously. You can switch between the two via the printer driver to match the media in use.
To avoid this issue, you can activate the auto switching setting. With auto switching feature enabled, the printer will automatically switch to using the black ink type suitable for the paper type you intend to print to.
Do the following to enable auto switching in the Epson driver (version 8.36):

When you close the windows, the printer automatically proceeds with the black ink change operation and after completing it, prints out the print job. Also, auto switching is permanently activated and you will not receive any future warning notifications about mismatching black ink types before printing.

However, if you would prefer to still receive this notification to avoid accidental print outs with the wrong black ink type, you can change the black ink type via the printer's LCD panel instead.
Make sure that the 'Different Black Ink Cartridge' notification described above is enabled. Then, each time you want to change the black ink type, do the following:
Now these settings have been made, the printer will change the black ink type and afterwards print out the print job. For the next print job with a mismatching black ink type you will now still get the warning notification.
